Cathedral Basilica of Santa Marta
The Cathedral of Santa Marta was founded in 1765, although the first one built of mud and palm, was made by our founder Don Rodrigo de Bastidas, and was located in the current Bank of the Republic, but in this place were easy targets for pirates , so it was moved and constructed of more resistant material; its design was created by Juan Cayetano Chacón. Tayrona National Park is located 34 km from Santa Marta, its beautiful landscape is composed of lush vegetation, big volcanic rocks and crystal clear water. To get to the park it takes 50 minutes from the hotel, and its access can be by public service buses that leave from the public market (only 15 minutes walking from the hotel) or hire a tourist agency. When you arrive at the entrance (the Zaino) you pay the value of the quota and they give you a handle that credits you as a guest of the Park. When you walk through the park you will find different beaches such as Cañaveral, Arrecife, Arenilla, La piscina, Cabo san juan, nudist beach and the other majestic rainforest features of the National Park, you can also know our history in the small town Chayrama, remember that the park has different entrances, one for Neguanje, Calabazo and Zaino, also keep in mind the visit to the park must be scheduled in advance, to visit it in one day we recommend leaving very early to get to Cabo San Juan. To get to cristal beach you enter by Calabazo, there is a small stop on the beach "siete olas", in which you can only take a photo, as it is not possible to bathe. Golden museum
The Santa Marta gold museum is located at Calle 14 No 1C-37, on Simon Bolivar Park, about 10 minutes walking from the hotel, in the famous Casa de la Aduana, the city's first house built in 1530. Entrance to the museum is free, open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Pozo azul is one of the favorite places to visit in Santa Marta if you are looking for something different to beach, breeze and sea. Its main attraction is its spectacular landscapes. To get to blue well we take a bus in the public market of the city to only 15 minutes of the hotel; the bus takes 45 minutes to reach Minca where you have to follow the path to reach this destination. The road is a long way to do it on foot, but many tourists do it because on the way you can see the beauty of the landscape in detail, by motorcycle or car it can take from 15 to 20 minutes to the gate (door of María Teresa) where it starts the second crossing to the blue well. From this point to the natural pool are approximately 10 minutes by motorcycle and 40 minutes walking. The sighting of different species of birds and the exotic flowers of the place will captivate you. It is normal to find cyclists on the road, as this terrain is very striking to practice mountain biking. When you reach the blue well you must pass through a suspension bridge that will surely make you feel the adrenaline and see your image will be the payment to your journey.
